Quietus (US) Quotes

Quietus started in November 2000 with Chris Waters (me) on guitars, bass, and vocals; and Chad Dove on percussion, keyboards, and samples. The music was very different here since we were metal and goth/industrial. The problem here was the lack of direction and the fact that we had a lot to learn about file-exchange and stuff like that (he lives in southern Alabama, and I live near Chattanooga, TN).

"Quietus" is another word (in English and Latin) for "death", but it also means "putting an end to". The way a fellow nihilist put it to me later on is that nihilism is the force of quietus in the Schopenhauerian or Buddhist sense of the word, e.g. an inner stillness, and thus is a gateway to clear-minded analysis of both self and world.
