After Jellyfish broke up, Roger (Roger Joseph Manning Jr.) suggested I go to Los Angeles and work on some songs, so we could attempt to maybe do another record for Virgin, because he was with Virgin at the time. So I drove out there. I think 20 to 30 demos later we wound up signing with Work Records instead. Then we got the other guys, Eric Skodis and Joseph Karnes, just by word of mouth and auditions.

Roger came up with it. We had a list of about 2 or 3 hundred band names, I swear to God, and that seemed to be the one that felt the best. It was more a vibe than anything. It wasn't that it meant anything.
