I was playing for Guitar Slim at the time, but I got the name from a guy out of Florida by the name of Dewey Richardson. He was a promoter. He gave me the name. He asked me to carry that name and he said it would give me good luck. I think he was right. He said that a lot of promoters and record companies will ask me to change it. But stick to it, he said. And that's what I did. And I'm still happy with it after all these years.
