We didn't plan it; we didn't get together and say we're going to be an emo punk band or whatever. We're still trying to work that out. Everyone is so diverse in their musical influences and everyone always has a strong opinion, so everybody has their moments, so everybody gets their way. It means you don't get your way all the time, but you've got to do a lot of stuff that you don't really like. It's all about compromise.
Oh yeah! It's so good to have it out, it took us five years to put the first album out. We finished recording it about two years ago! We're actually working on our second album right now.
It's kind of cool to be back here because we've lived here for the past two years and a lot of our friends live in LA so it's gonna be good to be catching up with them again.
I think it's just that adrenaline rush that you get being up there with your mates - those nights when it just goes really well, you're just all in the zone, everything sounds right and everyone's playing really well.
My parents are real cool, but they're just starting to talk to us about it. We've just given up our jobs for a year too. We've been working really hard, but they wouldn't really see all that stuff that we've been doing. It was just getting to that point where I'd be staying in my dads shed for months because I didn't have a place to stay. They were just getting a bit worried about our life going down the toilet.
Especially now when CD sales are going down, you can't just live off one big hit. You do need to have that live following built up pretty organically rather than just shoving it down people's throats. So coming over here, we're not worried if it takes a while, for CDs to start to sell in Australia. We'd rather that than have a big first week and all this hype in the charts.
