I try to stay away from labels, but it's difficult in music because everybody wants to find a name for it. It's coming from the press. Rolling Stone wrote "Max is the Bob Marley of metal" and a lot of people jumped on it after that. I try to do music the way I think is right, so I don't worry about labels.
Roy (Mayorga, the drummer) returned to the band. He wasn't with us on Primitive. Having him back is like having an old tribe member come back to the tribe. It really rejuvenated everybody, made everybody in really good spirits. Musically this is a great lineup, really good chemistry. We're able to do things that I've never done before. We can break into a total hardcore section into a reggae section, and we do that in the song "Bring It". It becomes a complete jam session, almost a complete transformation of sound. We go through drum jams, a section that's all acoustic, so the show has become much more interesting.
