We just had to make the new album, so that's what first inspired it. We started thinking about it, then we had a title, a way to approach...then it was done.
No, I think we are way in it, maybe for 15 years. It's not a war that's being fought with blood only, but on the backs of the impoverished masses. Any sort of big super power government in the world that diverts from the cause of humanity makes the evil more evil.
Yeah, that's the main incentive. If it wasn't fun and making us happy, then we wouldn't be doing it, because there are certainly more lucrative ways to spend your time.
We don't really consider ourselves industrial. We always called our stuff ultra-heavy beat. But we've been lumped into this industrial thing, but we don't pay much attention to what we see as the industrial scene. There is a difference between European and American industrial. Industrial as we know it is late 1970s noise core stuff, like Throbbing Gristle, SPK and stuff like that. While in America, industrial is everything that blends guitars, computers and electronic music, like Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. We never felt a part of that camp because we don't adhere to the rules of that camp. Industrial, like many underground art forms, is very segregated and self-limiting. We've never subscribed to any genres or tags. For KMFDM, the rules do not apply.
